Attention Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Members in Indiana



We appreciate the trust you place in Center for Diagnostic Imaging, and we want you to be aware that CDI was pushed out of network by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.

In early December 2018, Anthem sent a letter informing CDI that it was unilaterally reducing our previously negotiated rates by more than 30 percent. This action was neither equitable nor does it represent the quality and value we provide Anthem members and employer groups as a high-quality, cost-effective and convenient alternative to hospital-based imaging services. Despite our attempts to negotiate an agreement, Anthem has held firm on imposing drastic cuts and is redirecting its members from accessing CDI.

While we understand this creates some inconvenience, we simply cannot accept arbitrary rates dictated by a $50 billion publicly-traded insurance company that do not reflect the convenient, high-quality, cost-effective care and service provided by CDI for more than 20 years throughout Indiana.

We want you to know that you always have the choice of using CDI for your diagnostic care and medical treatments – and CDI will not compromise on providing you with the highest quality care and service you deserve.

It’s also important that you know:

  • You may continue to use CDI as an out-of-network provider. Depending on your health insurance policy, this will change the way your claim is processed by Anthem and it may result in additional out-of-pocket costs.
  • CDI will provide you with an up-front estimate based on your coverage. We will also process your claim to ensure you get the full extent of your an out-of-network coverage.
  • Any out-of-pocket expenses from CDI will be based on our discounted self-pay rate. Depending on your out-of-network coverage and deductibles, you may still find that CDI provides the best value for your imaging needs – especially given the delays you are likely to face at other outpatient imaging providers.
  • You have a say in who your insurance provider offers in your care network. Please take action and voice your concerns to Anthem that they are impacting your access to high-quality, convenient, cost-effective providers like CDI. Contact your employer’s benefits administrator or Human Resources department to make your voice heard.
